Understand the evaluation process, the records that may help, and what to expect before deciding whether to proceed.
Next Level Nexus provides independent medical evaluation services. We do not provide VA claims representation or guarantee a favorable opinion or benefits decision.
A medical nexus opinion is a clinician’s professional assessment of whether a medical condition is related to an event or circumstance in military service, or to another service-connected condition. The opinion should explain the medical reasoning and the evidence considered. VA—not Next Level Nexus—decides eligibility for benefits.
Not necessarily. The evidence required depends on the type of claim and the circumstances. VA may already have sufficient evidence, may apply a presumption, or may obtain an examination or medical opinion itself. Our free screening helps determine whether an independent medical evaluation may be appropriate; it does not provide advice about which claim to file.
Direct service connection generally concerns a current disability linked to an injury, illness, or event during service. Secondary service connection concerns a separate condition caused or aggravated by a disability VA has already recognized as service-connected. The medical questions, documentation, and applicable VA rules may differ.
Depending on the question, useful records may include current medical records, relevant service treatment records, imaging or laboratory reports, treatment timelines, previous medical opinions, and VA correspondence. We will identify the records requested if you are invited to proceed. Do not send medical files through the free preliminary screening or ordinary email.
The evaluator considers the medical condition and history, whether records support important events or findings, the timing and development of the condition, relevant medical literature when appropriate, and other medically plausible explanations. Conclusions must be supported by an understandable clinical rationale.
Yes. The preliminary screening is free and requires no payment. It is designed to determine whether we may be able to offer an appropriate independent medical evaluation. It is not itself a medical opinion or a promise that a paid service will be offered.
No. The screening asks only about the general types of records you may have. If your request is suitable for further consideration, we will explain how to provide documents through an approved secure intake process.
You may still complete the free screening. Whether a meaningful evaluation can be offered depends on the particular clinical question and available evidence. Our clinician will determine whether additional documentation or evaluation is necessary before we can proceed.
No. Screening only determines whether your request may be appropriate for a full evaluation. A clinician cannot ethically promise a favorable opinion before reviewing the evidence. The outcome and deliverables will be governed by the service agreement presented before payment.
The evaluator must reach an independent clinical conclusion based on the records and professional judgment. The evidence may support an opinion, weigh against the requested relationship, or be insufficient for a reliable conclusion. Before purchase, we will explain the service scope, what written findings are included, and the applicable fee and refund terms.
The initial screening is free. For paid evaluations, the fee depends on the number of conditions, complexity, records involved, and the agreed scope of service. You will receive the proposed service terms and pricing before deciding whether to purchase.
Timeframes depend on the medical question, record volume, completeness of documents, and clinician availability. Any anticipated delivery date is discussed during the engagement process. A deadline noted in your screening does not guarantee expedited service.
No. Next Level Nexus provides independent medical evaluation services; it does not prepare, file, present, or pursue VA benefit claims on your behalf. For claims assistance, VA-accredited Veterans Service Organization representatives can provide free representation. You may also use an accredited attorney or claims agent as appropriate.
VA may consider competent private medical evidence, but the weight VA gives an opinion depends on factors such as the clinician’s qualifications, the facts relied upon, and the quality of the medical reasoning. No private business can promise that VA will accept an opinion or approve a claim.

Someone may submit an initial inquiry with your permission. Additional authorization may be required before we discuss your confidential medical information or proceed with a clinical engagement. The screening form includes a separate acknowledgment for individuals assisting a veteran.
We limit the preliminary questionnaire to information needed for screening and provide a Privacy Notice explaining our practices. Do not submit detailed medical records through ordinary email. Before accepting sensitive records, we will provide instructions for the approved secure intake process. For privacy questions, contact privacy@nextlevelnexusvets.com.
A credible medical opinion is more than a statement of support. When clinically relevant and available, an evaluator considers the current condition and diagnosis, the veteran’s medical and service history, the timing and course of the condition, relevant test findings, other potential causes, and accepted medical knowledge. The opinion should explain the reasoning for its conclusion and identify important limitations in the record.
VA evaluates disability evidence under rules that differ by claim type. Some claims may qualify under presumptive provisions or other pathways; a privately purchased opinion is not necessary for every veteran.
